COBI Complaints Mechanism
The complaints mechanism of Comunidad y Biodiversidad, A.C. (COBI) offers anyone who feels negatively affected by a project or activity supported by COBI the opportunity to file a complaint and receive a response. COBI is committed to providing you with a response within 25 business days of receiving your complaint.

You can file anonymous complaints. In that case, COBI will process the complaint and include the results of this process in the consolidated database of processed complaints.

Strengthening financial resilience for youth- and women-led solutions in fishing communities
Objective
To strengthen the capacities of 20 women and youth in financial, digital, and ocean literacy, with the aim of developing marine conservation projects and sustainable fisheries within federal Natural Protected Areas in the Mexican Caribbean.
Project summary
The project focuses on the communities of Cozumel, Banco Chinchorro, Chetumal, and Xcalak, in Quintana Roo.
It proposes the implementation of workshops and activities to strengthen financial skills and the management of digital environments (e.g., access to and use of digital platforms and spreadsheets) aimed at 20 women and youth in coastal communities of the Mexican Caribbean. This includes workshops on digital and technological literacy, financial management and savings, and the design of community projects.
Support will be provided to groups led by women and youth so they can develop their projects (advanced economic, productive, or climate change adaptation initiatives), such as community monitoring groups, species restoration, fly fishing, among others. Participants will decide which projects to develop (approximately eight projects). A multidisciplinary committee will be created to select and support two projects for incubation.
This proposal will contribute to improving financial capacities (savings habits and financial education) as well as strengthening the role of women and youth in coastal communities, enhancing the resilience of these groups and the areas where they live through autonomy, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of community-based solutions and projects.

Participating and affected stakeholders
Women and youth (men and women between 18 and 29 years old, members and non-members of fishing cooperatives), fishing cooperatives, community groups, Cozumel Reefs National Park (PNAC), Banco Chinchorro Biosphere Reserve (RBBC), Xcalak Reefs National Park (PNAX), State Reserve Manatee Sanctuary, and the Kanan Kay Alliance.
